This small freestyle street art piece draws inspiration from the Marsican brown bear, a critically endangered species confined to a single national park in Italy. Long associated with resilience, endurance, and maternal strength, the bear becomes a quiet symbol of survival in the face of limitation.
During time spent in a mountain village in Abruzzo, the artist encountered women—mothers and grandmothers—living through harsh winters and deep isolation, often separated from family members who had left in search of better futures. Through memories, stories, songs, and prayers, they carry an unseen continuity, acting as caretakers of invisible bonds.
This work is a tribute to those women, and to mothers everywhere—scattered across the world in small, overlooked communities—sending silent signals outward, sustained by hope, love, and resilience.
